Urgently seeking to recruit a Parish Clerk

Part time with an average twenty hours per month

Salaried in accordance with NJC Scale 20-25 with an additional allowance for home working

You must

- Be computer literate have a basic knowledge of accounting procedures

- Be willing to prepare minutes of Council Meetings, accounting statements and upload onto the Council's website (knowledge of HTML not required)

- Communicate with the public and other local authority members and officers

- Provide a suitable home environment including the storage of a laptop computer, two drawer filing cabinet and printer

Every four years a Parish Election is called by the Mid Suffolk District Council and the residents of Mellis have the opportunity to elect seven people, from those persons nominated for election, to serve on Mellis Parish Council. Details of your current Councillors can be found on the YOUR COUNCIL page.

Meetings of the Parish Council are held once every six weeks approximately. The Next Parish Council Meeting is on Monday 22nd January, 6pm inthe Memorial Hall. Dates for the meetings are published on the MEETINGS page of our website and on the noticeboard at the Mellis Memorial Hall. The meetings are held in Mellis Memorial Hall and this will be confirmed on the published agenda for each meeting. Additional meetings (extraordinary meetings) may be called to consider planning applications or other matters requiring an urgent response before the next scheduled meeting. These meetings will be similarly advertised on the website and on the Memorial Hall noticeboard. 

The Mellis Parish Councillors are Diana Kearsley, Tina Wilby and Carl Wilby. The Clerk to the Parish Council can be contacted via email at mellisparishcouncil@gmail.com  

The Annual Meeting of the Parish Council is held in May. The Chairman and other officers of the Council are elected annually at this meeting

The Annual Parish Meeting, a meeting of the electors of the Parish rather than a Parish Council meeting, will be held between 1 April and 1 June inclusive each year. To view past Annual Parish Meeting minutes and reports go the the ANNUAL PARISH MEETING page.
